Explanation of Dedicated Web Hosting

When we speak of web hosting servers, there are three main types - web hosting servers, VPS (virtual servers) and dedicated web hosting. Shared servers accommodate numerous customers and so the system resources per web hosting account are restricted, VPS web hosting give you more configuration freedom, but also influence other Virtual Private Servers on the hardware node if utilized heedlessly, and dedicated servers offer you the chance to do everything you desire without meddling with anyone else.

Why would you require a dedicated servers?

Dedicated servers are normally much more expensive than shared hosting servers or VPSs. Why would anyone, then, use them? The explanation is pretty simple. If your company has a heavy-content site, or simply has very explicit web server configuration requirements, the best choice would be a dedicated servers. For someone who is inclined to invest in security and dependability, the higher price is not a problem. You receive full server root privileges and can utilize 100% of the dedicated hosting web server's resources without anyone else sharing these resources and interfering with your sites.

Hardware architectures

Most website hosting distributors, incl. us at InterGadget, offer several hardware configurations you can select from as per your needs. The hardware configurations offer different sorts of microprocessors, a different number of cores, different RAM memory and server disk drive sizes and different traffic usage quotas. You can choose a Control Panel, which is a useful interface if you wish to use the dedicated servers for web hosting purposes only and prefer not to use SSH for all the changes you will be making. We provide 3 types of hosting Control Panel software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.

The hosting Control Panel of your choosing

If you are a confident Linux OS user (our servers are running on Linux or other Unix-based Operating Systems), you could manage your dedicated servers through SSH only. That, however, could be awkward, even more so if you choose to grant complete server root access to someone else who has less technical skills than yourself. This is why having web hosting CP software activated is a fine idea. The Hepsia web hosting Control Panel user interface that we provide does not include complete server root access and is mainly appropriate for someone who maintains plenty of websites that devour plenty of resources, but prefers to administer the web portals, databases and electronic mails via an intuitive hosting Control Panel. The DirectAdmin and cPanel web hosting Control Panels, on the other hand, grant complete root-level access and have 3 access levels - root, reseller and user. If you plan to resell web hosting packages instead of using the dedicated servers only for yourself, you should choose one of these two.

Server monitoring and backup procedures

Last but not least, there is the issue of monitoring the dedicated servers and of backing it up. In case of a predicament with your server, such as an unresponsive Apache or an outage, it is good to have some sort of monitoring system enabled. Here at InterGadget the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you have a Managed Services package, they monitor the individual services on the dedicated servers too. Backups are also an extra feature - the company offers you data backups on our own backup servers. You could select a type of RAID that would allow you to have the very same data on 2 hard drives as a protective measure in the event of a server hard drive failure, or in case someone whom you have given full root access deletes something by mistake.
